PITCHERS TO CONSIDER:
MAX SCHERZER (11100) – If I’m paying up for a stud today it’s going to be MadMax. Facing a terrible MIA offense averaging 3.0 runs per game on the year. It is notable that over the last 7 days they are up to 5.3 so they have been show signs of life. Miami has lost 3 in a row and 11-19 in their last 30. Max has 38 strikeouts in 138 Miami batters faced and they are batting .252 against him. The Nationals bullpen is horrible so let’s hope he can go 8-9 innings and lock down the win.
MATT STRAHM (8500) – Padres are 6-4 in their last 10 games and scoring 6.0 runs per game over the last 7 days. NYY have been solid recently going 8-2 in their last 10 and 16-4 in their last 20 games. They have a wRC+ 20 points lower playing at home and they did just face the Royals who are terrible. Strahm hasn’t allowed over 2 ER in his last 8 starts. Leaning here because NYY are not as good at home (16th) and vs. LHP over the last month they are striking out at the 7th highest clip at 25.9% and hold a low wRC+ of 66.9 and a low .230 batting average. Might be a good GPP play to sneak in since the NYY have been hot and 8500 is still a decent price tag I think people will look elsewhere.
RICK PORCELLO (7300) – CLE is a terrible 3-7 in their last 10 games and only 26-26 on the year. They are also only scoring 2.7 runs per game over the last 7 days and 3.8 on the season. Porcello isn’t amazing but at this price tag and almost having the “Win” guaranteed he is a safe play. There is only 1 projected starting hitter for CLE averaging over 4.5 DK points per game over the last week. CLE is ice cold! Boston also has the 6th ranked bullpen so you can assure they can hold onto the win. The one red flag I will note is that CLE hitters in the lineup today are hitting .295 vs. Porcello 39 / 132 with 7 HRs.
JOSE URENA (6300) – This is a simply awesome play today at this price tag. His last 3 starts he has put up 18, 11 and 15 DK points and that is roughly 3x, 2x and 2.5x value and allows you to play some big hitters. In those 3 starts he has only given up 2, 1 and 1 ERs. Through 62 Abs the Nationals are only hitting 0.177 vs. Urena with 1 HR. Over the last 30 days the Nats also hold a low wRC+ of 66.1 vs. pitcher hand with a .220 batting average.
STACKS & PITCHERS TO TARGET AGAINST:
OAKLAND – Super cheap hitters, 9 game winning streak and scoring 6.2 runs per game over the last week. Yes please!
CINCY – Outside of 2 guys they are cheap and scoring 6.8 runs per game over the last week and get to face Kingham who has allowed 6 and 7 ER in his last two starts and only lasted 4.0 innings in those two. When they knock Kingham out of the game they get to face the 26th ranked bullpen that boasts a 4.81 xFIP / 1.54 whip and allowing a .261 average over the last month!
LAA ANGELS - They have been fire away from home putting up the 3rd best road wRC+, 3rd best wOBA and lowest strikeout rate. They are also dirt cheap outside of Trout. LaStella has been fire at only 3.8k, Shohei can go yard anytime at 3.5k. And they get the 19th ranked bullpen after Bassitt comes out of the game.
Another cheap stack to consider is the Cubs. Cole coming off getting thrashed and the Cubs lineup doesn't have anyone over 4,600 on DK. Cheap stack with upside!
