PITCHERS TO CONSIDER:
BRAD PEACOCK (9400) – Coming off a nice 28.5 DK point performance he went 6.0 / 2 ER with 11 Ks @ NYY. He has a high of 40.75 DK points on May 8th so the stuff is there. Houston needs him and needs a win! He has a solid split pitching at home with a lower xFIP that drops down from 5.05 down to 4.13, K9 rate jumps from 7.6 to 9.9 and whip is slightly lower. BVP shows they are only hitting .209 through 43 Abs with a 33% strikeout rate (14 Ks in those 43 Abs). I don’t feel rock solid about any SPs today but for the price I think the risk/reward is there as they are a -200 fav.
WALKER BUEHLER (8900) – His last 3 starts he has been priced over 10k but now he is going to the dreaded Colorado park so his price is back down. I love the price tag and I think it warrants the risk. He is coming off 4 awesome starts putting up 53, 27, 34 and 41 DK points. Those are AMAZING numbers! Those are 31 innings with only 3 ERs and 42 strikeouts. He threw in Colorado his 2nd start of the year and went 5.0 / 1 ER and 4 Ks. But now he is red hot so I think that is his floor today. COL has a low BVP of hitting only .175 through 103 team Abs. McMahon is 0 for 12 with 6Ks, Desmond 1 for 10, Nolan Arenado is 4 for 19, Dahl is only 4 for 16 and Blackmon is 7 for 24 with 6 Ks.
SANDY ALCANTARA (8300) – His last 4 starts have been solid putting up 24, 13.5, 16.5 and 24 DK points. He has only allowed 1, 3, 1 and 1 ER in those 4 and put up a respectable 23 Ks. He has a ceiling of 42 DK points on May 19th where he put up a masterful 9.0 inning, 2 hitter, 0 ER with 8 Ks vs. NYM. He has a solid floor, monster ceiling and viable for us tonight. BVP is a little scary with WSN hitting .432 but it is only 37 Abs so take that with a grain of salt. Alcantara also has a better split at home as his xFIP drops from 6.32 down to 4.17, K9 rate jumps from 4.3 to 7.7 and his whip drops from 1.61 to 1.25.
PUNT OPTION: JOE MUSGROVE (5300) – This is the only punt option I like today. He is coming off a masterful 30.75 DK point start going 7.0 innings with only 1 ER and 8 Ks vs. a decent SDP team. In his last 4 starts he has put up 30.75, -4.2, 2.3 and 24.4 DK points. So 2 solid starts and 2 shit starts. I love the 5x and 6x upside at this price tag but he also has the risk of 0x or negative points! Musgrove is throwing in a pitchers park and has a better split on the road. His whip drops from 1.38 to a respectable 1.19 and his wOBA allowed drops from a horrible .360 down to a solid .278. There is a shot he can sneak in a “Win” here as HOU is 2-8 in their last 10 games and rank a horrible 28th in their last 10 game power rankings. If PIT can stay hot there is a shot!
